College of Agriculture, Skrau, Jobner, Rajasthan. In the present investigation conducted during Kharif, 2009, the management cost incurred at highest net return was Rs. 2049.00 ha-1 . The gain threshold of 341.5 kg ha-1 was computed on the basis of whole sale price of pods of Indian bean (Rs. 6.00 kg-1 ) and current management cost (Rs. 2049). The corresponding value of economic injury level (EIL) was worked out to be 24.19 aphids per shoot. In the field, the mean aphid population was found to be increased at the rate of 3.09 aphids per day per shoot. Based on economic injury level (...

Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand Viveka Nand  Professor, Deptt.of Chemistry College of Basic Sciences & Humanities, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand Laboratory experiments were conducted to determine the antifeedant activity of leaves and seeds methanolic extracts of different genotypes of Coriander against 8 day old larvae of S. litura. The results revealed that all the genotypes exhibited better results in 10% concentration rather than 5%. Genotype Pant haritima was found to be most effective against S. litura larvae with lowest MLAC (cm2 ) and showed strongly antifeedant activity. While the genotype UD-7...

Walp. (grown for vegetable) was conducted at SKN College of Agriculture, Jobner. The highest net return (Rs. 11044 ha-1) was obtained from the plots where the aphid population was at 7.71 aphids per central shoot followed by 27.02 aphids per central shoot (Rs. 9674 ha-1). The correlation analysis showed a significant inverse correlation between aphid population and the pod yield of c...

Species Diversity and Density of Acridids in Paddy Ecosystem in Southern Rajasthan

Periodic Research   ( P: ISSN No. 2231-0045 RNI No. UPBIL/2012/55438 VOL.-III, ISSUE-II, November-2014 E: ISSN No. 2349-9435 ) Abstract   Abhishek Pareek  Assistant Profesor, Deptt. of Entomology, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, MPUAT, Udaipur, Rajasthan Lekha  Assistant Professor, Deptt. of Entomology, Rajasthan Collegeof Agriculture, MPUAT, Udaipur, Rajasthan P. S. Rathore  Agriculture Officer, Deptt. of Entomology, Rajasthan Collegeof Agriculture, MPUAT, Udaipur, Rajasthan Surveys were conducted in paddy ecosystem in different districts of Southern Rajasthan during 2008-09 and 2009-10 to study the density and diversity of acridid species. Results revealed that species diversity was maximum in Udaipur during both the years of study with the Shanon Weiner Diversity Index being 2.141 and 2.106, respectively. The acridid mean and relative density values varied considerably in the paddy ecosystem and population of Oxya spp. was most abundant with a range fro...
