भारत विश्व की सबसे प ुरानी सभ्यताआ ें में से एक ह ै जो विविधता म ें

एकता को दर्षा ता ह ै। एकत्व की इस भावना ने एक और भारतीय सभ्यता को

विश्व में सर्व श्रेष्ठ बनाया वहीं दूसरी ओर समय के प ्रवाह के साथ - साथ

अनेक नकारात्मक तत्वों ने जन्म लिया और उसे क्षति पहुचायी। ए ेसा ही एक

नकारात्मक तत्व था - समाज में महिलाओं का े प ुरूषा ें के समकक्ष न मानकर

हीन मानना। इस प ्रव ृत्ति ने भारतीय सभ्यता को बहुत क्षति पह ुॅचायी आ ैर

आधुनिक युग में अ ंग्र ेजा ें के समय में पतन की अन्तिम सीमा तक पह ुॅच र्गइ ।

विभिन्न समाज सुधारका ें एव ं महात्मा गाॅधी ने उसकी स्थिति का े उच्च बनाया

व स्वतंत्रता आंदा ेलन में सहभागी बनाया। स्वतं़त्रता प ्राप्ति के बाद संविधान में

विषेष प ्रावधान किए गए। 73 व ें एवं 74 व ें संषोंधन ने स्थानीय राजनीति में

न्यूनतम एक तिर्हाइ  आरक्षण प ्रदान कर उनमें एक नवीन चेतना जागृत की।

आज वे समय से आगे निकलकर प ्रत्येक क्षेत्र में अपने पदचिन्हा ें की छाप छोड़

रही हैं ।

         India is one of the oldest civilizations of the world which characterizes unity in diversity. This belief in unity in diversity gave Indian civilization an almost importance in the world civilization but with the passage of timeA number of negative elements arose which harmed the status of the nation. One such negative aspect is to consider woman as inferior and not equal to their male counterparts. This tendency greatly harmed Indian tradition and during the British rule degraded it toA great extent. Many social reformers and Mahatma Gandhi worked for the upliftment of the women in the society and paved the way for the equal participation of women in the freedom struggle. Post independence notable provisions for women were made in the Indian constitution. The 73th and 74th amendment to the constitution specified one third reservations for women in the municipal level election which emerged the feminine self.
