सहा.प्राध्यापक,

हिन्दी विभाग, अम्बाह पी. जी. काॅलेज, अम्बाह,मुरैना,म.प्र.भारत 

सैला का सामान्य अर्थ डण्डा भी ह ै। यह नृत्य डण्डों के सहारे किया

जाता ह ै। इसलिए छत्तीसगढ़ में इसे डण्डा नाच कहा जाता ह ै। डण्डा लेकर

नृत्य करने वाले नर्तकों का े डण्डाकार कहते ह ै। इस नृत्य के साथ जो गीत

गाया जाता है, उन्हें डण्डा गीत के नाम से जाना जाता ह ै। वनों में जीवन

व्यतीत करने वाले आदिवासियों के लिए डण्डा उनका सबसे बड़ा शस्त्र है।

जिसके द्धारा वे हि ंसक पशुओं से अपनी रक्षा करते ह ै। इस नृत्य में डण्डा,

भाला, तलवार आदि अस्त्र-‘शस्त्रा ें के प ्रया ेग की शैलियां देखने को मिलती ह ै।

वीर रस युक्त यह नृत्य पुरातन भारतीय वीरता का प ्रतीक ह ै। यह ऐसा नृत्य है

जा े शान्ति काल में लोकवासियों के मना ेरंजन करने के साथ ही उन्ह ें युद्ध में

लड़ने क े लिए प ्रेरणा देता रहा है।

The general meaning of Saila is "Stick" . This is the dance form which is performed with the help of stick so it is also known as Danda Nach or Dandar Pate in the chattisgarh . Dancers holding sticks while dancing called Stick Dancers . Songs sing while dance are known as Danda -Geet . Tribal peoples living in the forests are treated stick as their weapon for protecting themselves from wild animals . The styles of sticks, spears and swords are usually seen in this dance. This heroic dance is a symbol of ancient indian bravery .This is the dance which was source of entertainment for tribal peoples as well as has been inspired them for fighting wars.
