भारतीय प ुनरुत्थान की सम्पूर्ण धाराओं क्रमशः सांस्कृतिक, राजनैतिक

एवं सामाजिक चेतना का विकास लगभग एक साथ ह ुआ। दयानन्द ने एक

राष्ट्रीय उन्नायक, समाज सुधारक और राष्ट्रीय कार्यकर्ता के दायित्व को पूर्ण

निष्ठा से निभाया आ ैर इसी कारण वे रुढ़िवादिता से ढृढ़ताप ूर्वक टक्कर लेते

रहे। दयानन्द के धर्म की धारणा एक समग्र राष्ट्रवादी धर्म के रुप में उभर कर

जनता के सामने प ्रगट ह ुई। दयानन्द न े भारतीय जनमानस का े मानसिक

जड ़ता, दासभाव और पलायनवादी व ृत्ति से हटाकर संास्कृतिक, धार्मिक आ ैर

सामाजिक चेतना का संचार किया था।

आधुनिक भारत में राष्ट्रवाद एव ं व ैदिक पुनरुत्थानवाद तथा सुधारवाद

के प ्रणेता दयानन्द सरस्वती ने देश की पता ेन्मुख पंथो, परिपाटिया ें की व्याकुल

करने वाली उलझनों का े साफ करक े एक सरल मार्ग बना दिया। ‘‘दयानन्द न े

आर्य समाज स्थापित करके आधुनिक युग की प ्रव ृत्तियों तथा अतीत, वर्तमान

आ ैर भविष्य के मध्य सेतु निर्मा ण कर भारतीयों की पहचान तथा अस्मिता को

नवीन पटल पर स्थापित कर गा ैरवान्वित किया।‘‘1

Cultural, political and social consciousness developed almost simultaneously throughout the currents of Indian revival. Dayanand fulfilled the duties of a national activist, social reformer and national activist with full devotion and for this reason he continued to compete fiercely with orthodoxy. The notion of Dayanand's religion emerged as a total nationalist religion and was revealed to the public. Dayanand removed the Indian public from mental inertia, slavery and escapist instinct, and communicated cultural, religious and social consciousness. Dayanand Saraswati, the pioneer of nationalism and Vedic revivalism and reformism in modern India, made a simple path by clearing the distressing confusions of the patriotic sects, conventions of the country. "Dayanand made the Arya Samaj proud by establishing trends of the modern era and bridging the past, present and future by establishing the identity and identity of Indians on the new table."
