                                                    Abstract

 भारतीय राजनीति में जाति की भ ूमिका स्वतंत्रता प ूर्व आ ैपनिवेशिक

काल से ही रही ह ै किन्तु स्वतंत्रता पश्चात चुनावी राजनीति में यह अधिक

मुखर हुई। जाति को भारतीय राजनीति के प ्रमुख निर्धा रक तत्वों में गिना जाता

ह ै। राजनीति में जातिवाद को एक नकारात्मक पहलू के रूप में देखा जाता है

किन्तु कुछ विद्वान राजनीति में जाति को सामाजिक न्याय की प्राप्ति में

सहायक आ ैर वंचित जातियों के लिए शासन आ ैर राजनीति में उचित स्थान

दिलाने वाला मानते ह ैं। किन्तु अन्य संकीर्ण ताओं की तरह जातिवाद भी

लोकतंत्र के लिए खतरनाक ह ै। लगभग सभी राजनीतिक पार्टियाँ चुनाव में

जाति का े बढ़ावा देने की प्रवृŸिा की आलोचना करते ह ै ं किन्तु टिकट देते वक्त

व े जाति को घ्यान मे ं रखकर प ्रत्याशियों का चयन करते ह ै ं। चुनावा ें में भाग

लेने आ ैर उसे प ्रभावित करने क े अलावा जाति का प ्रयोग राजनीति में सही आ ैर

गलत लाभा ें के लिए भी किया जाता ह ै। जातिवाद का राजनीति में प ्रव ेश

सामाजिक व ैमनस्यता को बढ़ा रहा ह ै और यह आधुनिक भारत की

निर्मा ण-प ्रक्रिया का े नकारात्मक रूप में प ्रभावित कर रहा है।

The role of caste in Indian politics has been there since the preindependence colonial period, but after independence it became more prominent in electoral politics. Caste is counted among the major determinants of Indian politics. Casteism is seen as a negative aspect in politics, but some scholars consider caste in politics to be helpful in achieving social justice and giving proper place in governance and politics for the deprived castes. But casteism, like other narrow-mindedness, is also dangerous for democracy. Almost all political parties criticize the tendency to promote caste in elections, but while giving tickets, they select candidates keeping caste in mind. Apart from participating in and influencing elections, caste is also used in politics for both right and wrong benefits. The entry of casteism into politics is increasing social disharmony and it is negatively affecting the manufacturing process of modern India
