Abstract
Mental health is a state of well-being in which an individual
realizes their own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can
work productively and is able to make a contribution to their community.
The present study's main objective was to compare the mental health
statusamong parents of normal and special children. For this purpose,
theinvestigator has selected a sample of 30 parents of normal children
and 30 parents of disabled children (30 to 40 years) from various special
and normal schools of Anand and Kheda districts of Gujarat state. Mental
health was measured throughthe mental health Scale developed by
Bhaat, D.J. Findings of present research revealed that mental health
traits were influenced by the types of parents. The parents of normal
children have better mental health than the parents of special need
children. Intervention programs must be taken into account to increase
the mental health of parents with disabled children.
