Abstract
The twentieth century has been a century unprecedented
population growth, economic development andenvironmental change, for
which there has been extensive debate worldwide on the relationship
betweenpopulation growth and depletion of resources and environmental
degradation in the past few years. The world population grew by four
time from 1.6 billion to 6.1 billion person during 1900 to to 2000 (United
Nations 2001) decreases in famine related deaths and infant mortality
rates are partially responsible for this rapid population growth in addition
advances in public health and medicine have increased the life
expectancy of countries worldwide.
